Hi team. I operate a blog at http://acalmsea.wordpress.com/
Anyway, to make this relevant (I presume I put this here and not in Links) I've been making a 'My favourite albums' list, with miniature reviews and thoughts below each entry. Annoyingly however I've expanded my music taste since I started sporadically writing this in January, so I kick myself I've left out some albums (like The Doors' debut etc.).
Anyway unsurprisingly you can find it here at http://acalmsea.wordpress.com/favourite-albums/
Hope I can contribute some original material to this site. |

| Nice job on the list. Found a couple of nameswith with which I am just too unfamiliar. Kudos for daring to put Journey's Greatest Hits there. Tell us when you're finished, all right? |

Cheers man, any names in particular?
I'll update here when I finally get going, I got into a lot of new music in a short period so I stopped so as not to have far too many "why didn't I include that?!"s. |

Well... mostly stuff of the post-rock order. Eluvium and Explosions in the Sky, most notably, both of which I probably wouldn't ever have given a listen due to cheesy/cutesy names. Since you seem to be a fan of stuff like GYBE! and Stars of the Lid, I decided to give them a go anyway. I'll let you know what I think when I get round to playing them! |

Eluvium, apart from perhaps with his newest release Similes, is drone ambient, as are Stars of the Lid. They're only really counted in the 'post-rock' crowd because Stars of the Lid are on Kranky and Eluvium is on Temporary Residence. Still cheers Do Make Say Think are another big recommendation. There's a lot of fluff in that genre but you can't really go wrong with any of these bands. |

To you, too. I'm without internet at the moment, so I won't be able to check it all out just yet, though.
Of the two groups I've listened to so far, I quite enjoyed 13 & God on first listen. It didn't have an immense effect on me, but enouh to be played again to see how it develops. I also played the Bibio album, but found the software strings appalling. The guy should've taken a loan and brought in a proper string section, or alternatively left them out completely. It could've been lovely stuff. |
