i've listened to it twice, after reading reviews saying it's better than 'ok computer', etc, etc.

it's not even better than their own debut. don't get me wrong, it's a very good record, but i think a lot of people had hopes for this record. 2010 has seen a very fragmented music scene unsure of itself, happy to allow itunes to sell MP3 albums at £8.99 when amazon sell them at £4 and nobody even knows.

Itunes sell top 40 singles at either 79 or 99 pence, HMV are now selling the same at 40 pence. Still, 80% of digital legal consumers will use itunes.

Emusic. Get 30 songs for £10 a month. that's 2 and a half / 3 albums. Emusic have a great catalogue of indie/alternative music.

When the music industry are so worried about creating decent legal services, why are they so scared of apple that they won't even promote the legal alternatives that offer FAR better value than itunes that already exist??

I've been using we7 a lot. listened to the new eliza carthy album, advert free, just the other day. i've bought it now.

i'm one of the few reviewers anywhere who does not submit to popular consensus. this new arcade fire album has got rave reviews, it's almost beyond comprehension that anybody could not like it.

it's worse than either of their first two albums, in my view. seemingly, no other critic is willing to break the consensus that has happened.

the same happened in the uk when oasis released 'be here now'.

nobody dared slag it off.

eg, 'sign of the times' is always the best prince album. in my view, it;s flawed and far from the best. the stones have 'exile' tightening around their necks to kill them - when it's nowhere near their best work.

I will comment when I've heard it! A little unfair before then, I think. Confused

Same here, haven't heard it yet (haven't bought it yet!) so I will wait until I have done so.

The Coral's new album is ace, by the way.

Well, I have given it the first couple of listens and I have to say, I think it's a very good album indeed.

It's not as good as Funeral, IMHO, but it comes pretty close. It's definitely much, much better than Neon Bible; in my opinion, that album was a big disappointment after the wonder that was Funeral, although it did have 3 or 4 great songs.

Early favourites? The title track, Modern Man, Half Light II (No Celebration), Suburban War, We Used to Wait, Sprawl I (Flatland) , Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains), City With No Children... I love the melancholic feel of the whole album, a very autumnal album, I think.

I love the final stretch of songs from 'Deep Blue' to 'The Suburbs (continued)'. It's absolutely magnificent.

One of the albums of the year so far, IMHO, together with The Coral's "Butterfly House", MGMT's "Congratulations", John Grant's "Queen of Denmark" and Paul Weller's "Wake Up the Nation".
