Adrian's Album Reviews,

Don Ignacio's Music Reviews Manages to review albums both by the time honoured 'paragraph' overview method and via track by track discussion. So, in effect, each review here is effectively TWO REVIEWS! Of the same album!! I like the writing style and I dig the fact the writer digs Meat Loaf. Everybody should. Scott's Rock and Soul Album Reviews Scott could earn a living, provided any of the WRC writers had any money, acting as an editor for the whole lot of us. Scott knows his stuff in terms of writing. Taking his cue from Wilson And Alroy, yet moving beyond them ( eg, Scott's reviews are more informative and useful ) Scott has an extremely readable site that covers a lot of genres and a lot of ground. Scott has arrived! Daniel Reviews Probably the most improved site on this page. Since Daniel began, he's added extra features, the layout of his site has improved and the reviews themselves have improved. He's built up an impressive list of artists that he's reviewed so far - I like the way he's gradually building his site up, it could become a major player in the not too distant future. Prindle Rock And Roll Review Site A site that pre-dated every other site on this page, and thus, something of a pioneer. Mark is the funniest writer about rock music ever and with his myriad interviews, something of a mover and shaker. He spoke to Mark E Smith of The Fall! Over the telephone!! How great is that??!!!?! CapnMarvel's Rock Record Review Bonanza Fails to update as often as he should, preferring to tackle entire artist catalogues over a period of weeks, rather than myriad and varied reviews of different artists. However, that's an approach that given time, will make his site one of the best and most comprehensive out there. He's got a unique style of writing and he's not afraid to bash albums received well elsewhere. Brad's Completely Useless Record Reviews Starting a new personal reviewing site must be very daunting these days, what with the wealth of other sites out there. Finding a new or just slightly different style to what's gone before must be very difficult. Brad has found his place with consistently good reviews, a dose of humour and a nice look to his increasingly promising reviews site. Guys Music Reviews A beautifully designed site, thanks to Els De Clerq. Guy does his stuff, a belgium with a very good grasp of English. Precise, and his site covers artists sometimes overlooked elsewhere. Guys has his preferences and seems to have little truck with covering the usual 'classic rock' type of artists before he's covered artists he feels are more worthy of exposure. George Starostin's Classic Rock & Pop Album Reviews George is a very intelligent Russian who writes better English than most English people, myself included. His reviews are often lengthy, sometimes overly so - yet his perception of music remains unique to him. He explains himself very well and is a huge fan of The Beatles. Music Junkies Anonymous A collective of reviewers, none of whom are anonymous, under the care of web-master and most frequent reviewer, Nick Karn. It's good to have several reviewers viewpoints on the same album. Some of the writers here may particularly hate mid-nineties era U2, but the reviews are usually well balanced and fair. The navigation needs improving, too many different menu's and places to go, and links sending you back to a different page than you've come from.... but the site is huge in size, and a great place to find reviews on practically any group you could reasonably wish for. Jack Feeny's CD Archive Well over four hundred reviews here, and a good selection of mostly rock artists has been covered. Jack runs one of the few non-american personal review sites, and the inclusion of the likes of Nick Drake, The Smiths and Joy Division is very pleasing. Record Reviews By Big Head Contains lists, articles. Reviews too, of course. The reviews are well done and cover a good range of artists, from the usual classic rock bands through to newer artists such as Outkast and Franz Ferdinand. Well worth checking out. John McFerrin's Review Site John reviews at a slower pace than some of the other sites here, but the results are worth the wait, nearly always. Several of his pages have become sources of reference to me, and I find I can always trust his judgements even if I don't always agree with his tastes. He has a passion for Classic Rock & Prog and covers groups like Genesis and Yes better than almost anyone. The site could benefit from having a few more reviews up than it does, but given time, i'm sure more bands and albums will be featured. Disclaimer Music Reviews A colourful alphabet navigation system is pleasing to the eye, and the reviews are always well written and just the right kind of length to gain an introductory insight or glance into any given album. Decent reviews, with many alternative and indie bands covered as well as your regular Beatles, Pink Floyd, etc. Eclipse Review Emporium The artist selection tends towards a metal/industrial/rock bias, but Mr Roland Fratzl ( web-master! ) also covers the likes of Aqua, Bjork and William Shatner! The reviews are well written and utilize a percentage system - something previously unused in these parts. Check it out. Sir Mustapha's Album Reviews Page You know what is really cool about this site? I mean, the reviews are good and everything else, but instead of photo's of the bands at the top of each of the relevant pages, he's got south-park create-a-character look-a-likes of the artist(s) in question. So, if you ever wondered what The Beatles would look like as South Park characters ( and want to read beatles reviews too! ) now's your chance!! Obscurity Very much a music fans web-site yet not enough has been reviewed here, and what has been reviewed is Wilson and Alroy influenced, but even having said that, this site shows a lot of potential as well as actual acheivement. Fyfeopedia A site that looks good, takes a moral stance on albums reviewed, which is unusual, but also something of a different thing to be reading in relation to record reviewing. |
